Circular drilling, or RC drilling, is a drilling method that uses a double-walled drill pipe consisting of an outer drill pipe and an inner pipe. These hollow inner tubes allow the cuttings to flow continuously and steadily back to the surface. Unlike the wire line coring method, the RC drill obtains a cuttings sample rather than a core. The drilling principle is to break the rock layer by driving a tungsten steel drill bit with a pneumatic drill hammer, which is used to break up hard rock. When compressed air is blown out, the pressure shift creates a reverse circulation, allowing cuttings to move up into the inner tube. When the cuttings reach the surface, the sample is shrunk through a hose connected to the cyclone, and then the sample is dropped into the sample bag through the bottom opening. These sample bags are marked with the location and depth at which samples are collected and can be transported directly to the laboratory for analysis.
RC drilling produces stable, reliable, and pollution-free samples. Cuttings enter the cyclone through the inner pipe of the drill pipe and do not touch other areas, thus avoiding cross-contamination and obtaining high-quality, reliable samples. Samples are easy to classify and track, have exact location and depth, and can accurately locate the mineralized location. It can drill 100-150m per day, can get drilling results faster, spend less time, and does not require water during drilling, suitable for water shortage areas.The positive and negative cross joint independently developed by our company can make the circulating washing medium first carry out local positive circulation washing at the bottom of the hole and then turn into reverse circulation removing cuttings. This method can realize the "three sided integration" continuous drilling with drilling, washing drilling and sampling at the same time, which changes the traditional production process of drilling and sampling completely separate, drilling in medium and above hard rock formations. The drilling efficiency can be greatly improved and the cost can be significantly reduced.
